Event Acceleration

Brain cancer is...

...witnessing the acceleration of spring events.

At home:

Darrell and Zach launch a double high five to celebrate the completion of the final paper of Zachary's master's career.

In the CSUF Education Classroom elevator:

The Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education heads down to celebrate another great group of newly credentialed teachers.  (Thanks, my EDEL family, for this moment!)

And on the field:

CSUF prepares to congratulate 12,000 Titans as they commence.

We love spring.

And they say California doesn't have seasons!

Brain cancer is...

...enjoying So Cal spring.

Jasmine may be unassuming to the eye, but imagine the smell!  It's the last thing we smell at night and the first thing we smell in the morning.  Ahhhh...spring!

Spring is also the season of many rituals.  For instance, today we did a little ironing:

The pace of spring events is beginning to accelerate at the Guillaume house.

We applaud the season's events in your home too. Here's to spring!

Life's Circles

Brain cancer is...

...(still) loving the Inland Empire.

The Inland Empire (the IE, for short, comprised of  Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) served as a beginning for us.  We began our careers there in 1983/4, Darrell as a fluid flow engineer, Andi as a middle school teacher.  We began our married life there, and a month after our wedding, we began our friendship there with the Szabos, as Beth and Andi were teaching partners.

Thirty four years later, we are appreciating the IE all over again.  This weekend with Beth and Geoff was much more elegant than our weekend hijinks of three decades ago, that's for certain.

And check out our tee shirts, above:  Emergency Medicine, Loma Linda.  We would never have guessed.  Thirty four years ago, who knew there would be an Alex...or a Tiana?  Who knew they would land in the IE?  We love life’s circles.

Not a bad Monday here.  How was yours?

We Love Moms

Brain cancer is...

...celebrating moms and the people who love them.

We enjoyed the day in Julian, thinking of our awesome moms, all the world's moms, and the people who love them.
Happy Mother's Day 2018!

We Need a Vacation!

Brain cancer is...

...heading south to wine country with Beth and Geoff.

Sometimes what a vacation needs is...another vacation, right?

Pictures to follow.  (Update:  See below.)

But first we got some steps in while checking out Fullerton's newly renovated Hillcrest Park.

After 40 years, the fountain flows again.

Hillcrest Fountain, the video experience:

Gotta love an adventure in our own backyard!

Update:  Wine tasting in the Cellar Room was fantastic. See?

Thesis? Defended!

Brain cancer is...

...here to congratulate Zachary on defending his master's thesis today.

Six months after Summer and Zachary began their graduate studies, Darrell received his diagnosis.  Darrell is especially proud of the kids for living through treatment with us and simultaneously completing their studies.

Titans reach higher!

Lil' Burro, We Salute You!

Brain cancer is...

...infinitely more treatable because of you, Lil' Burro.

If you've ever sat next to Darrell in the front seat, you've hung out with Lil' Burro (as above).  We realized today that we have not officially introduced you to Lil' Burro, his sleek Optune backpack.   We realized this when I said, "Hello Lil' Burro!" this morning and tucked the backpack in next to my feet.

Sure, you've seen Lil' Burro often since its introduction on 8/20/16 (click here for the refresher of the debut), but we can't find a post where we shared Lil' Burro's name with you.

Before Lil' Burro, Darrell carried a larger backpack for Optune 1.0 and bigger batteries.  (Click here for the visual of the larger pack.)

Recently Darrell credited Lil' Burro--and associated increased battery power--for his high Optune compliance rates.  Every mile that we've completed on the trail, on the train, and across the nation, Lil' Burro has done with us.

Lil' Burro:  We salute you!
