"Show Me Something New!"

(Hyperlink heads up:  Several terms, below, are hyperlinked.  As you know, the words are a different color for hyperlinked text. Hyperlinks are just in the unlikely event that you experience further need to know.)

Brain cancer is...

Darrell heads to Palm Island.

 ...so adventurous!

In our own '90s version of the Sunday drive, when our boys were small, we'd load the family into the car and drive through Del Taco.  The kids and Andi would urge Driver Darrell to, "Show us something new today!" We'd crunch on our tacos and fries as Darrell found new neighborhoods for our viewing pleasure.

All these years later, Darrell continues to embrace Andi's desire to see new sights and learn new things. Now, though, we're seeing more sights on foot.

(Side note: Maybe our walking hobby is one of the reasons we appreciate bird species in Life 2.0.  No matter how slowly we walk, new birds come to us.  Lazy adventuring!)

This morning Darrell willingly agreed to do our walk in another novel place, Mile Square Regional Park.  Here's why that name:

Darrell made good on his promise to show me something new.  Here are some highlights of the day's  adventures.

  • Trần Hưng Đạo, a 13th-century Vietnamese Grand Prince and military commander, repelled three Mongol invasions.

  • Annual Western Monarch Day, celebrating the return of the dwindling monarch butterfly populations to California, is February 5.
  • Archery looks cool.  This nice person, below, let me take his picture and said the range is free as long as you have your own bow.  Wonder how much that bow costs!

Finally, on the way out of the park, we discovered just where Darrell draws the line for daily adventures:

At the water's edge!  (Note that the bench is empty; no Darrell.)

May you see something you count as interesting today, Team D!  And may your feet stay dry!
