Brain cancer is...
...raising a virtual cheers with Gordon.
We were in Colorado when Gordon had a fall and broke a hip. He has already had surgery and has left the hospital for rehab. Thank goodness for...- Telephones: We were in touch with Gordon and family since the day of the fall.
- Good medical teams and facilities: Gordon was in his hometown, is under the care of his longstanding general practitioner--who was pleased with the choice of surgeons--and is at the same transitional care center as this spring.
- Big (and growing) families: Gordon's kids and kids-in-law have been supportive the whole way, and Alex and Nova visited before surgery. Alex spoke with the medical team, and Nova did her typical good work as a bringer of cheer.
- Modern medicine: Broken hips are so different than they used to be, thanks to medical advances like partial and full replacements and better therapy options. Gordon had a partial replacement and was up, standing and bearing weight, the day after his surgery. In therapy, he walks farther every day. PS: This isn't Gordon's first hip surgery rodeo. Years ago he had the other hip partially replaced after a fall, and you all know how active he is in the years after.
Cheers to that, Gordon!
