Brain cancer is...
...having Free Play.
We woke up to the rain and knew it was a perfect day for Free Play. Above you see Darrell's choices: Cooking and Law and Order. I chose a whole day of art. I painted a lot of rabbits.
We needed Free Play time because we're feeling overly structured. That's right: Overly structured.
Structure is coping strategy reported by many Team D members. People report imposing some regularity into their now irregular days in order to bring some order into the world. Friends are reporting building in work time and using to do lists to normalize the day.
We echo that: Over breakfast, every morning starts with a to do list, including a selection from our larger "Project" list. Even though we stay busy crossing things off every day, we haven't been finishing our lists. Perfect timing for Darrell to put Free Play as the only item on our schedule today. (Here's the 2017 post where Darrell invented Free Play as a legitimate schedule item.)
We feel quite rested through Free Play and have tomorrow's to do list ready to go.
Happy Saturday, Team D!

Square Inch of Silver Lining
Not us, but some people are baking!
Tyler and Carly Rodas made a magic porch delivery of the best homemade olive bread ever. Our hearts were touched by the chance to reconnect and by their kindness to think of us. Hot olive bread with butter. Heaven.
