Ever Vigilant
Brain cancer is...
...always on the lookout. And so is Mousse.
Enough said. Let's all watch and listen to our worlds, Friends.
(PS: The best thing about the photo, above? It's 100% repeatable. See?)

Darrell's Life Hack
Brain cancer is...
...creating great new hacks.
When I arrived home from work today, Darrell showed me his new purchase: an extension cord that fits into tight spaces. Its purpose? It's perfect for our Optune set up when we get the family bedroom on an Amtrak train.Yes, Friends, we are beginning to plan another extended train trip. It won't be for months, but with Darrell's first trip purchase, it's real.
Darrell's life hack is to always to have a vacation on the books. As soon as we finish one, we book another. Highly recommended!
I shared the life hack with Ruth and Hallie today as we had our birthday coffee and continued our "coffee house explorations" at The Night Owl. We decided to apply the same rule to coffee dates, so before we left this coffee date, we put another one on our calendars.
Thanks, Darrell, for your wisdom!

Potato Salad: Total Holiday Eclipse
Brain cancer is...
...loving the potato salad!
By 9:45 a.m. at the park, Darrell proclaimed: "We have enough material for three blog posts."He was referring to:
1. We ran into Denise at the park and walked and talked with her. First time ever:A friend at the park!
2. We watched the egrets nest--together! and in the tree! You, Brenda!
3. Darrell earned a dollar because Andi was wrong (again!). As the pic below shows, there is such a thing as a ball field where one can only play softball (not baseball). Darrell requests that you know this information. Dang.
All of these events were important in our day. And then LuAnn came over for a Labor Day barbeque. She brought the sauerkraut (delish) and the watermelon (juicy). She brought potato salad.
The lesson of the day: Potato salad eclipses all.
We love you, potato salad!

Rolling with the [Weather] Punches
Brain cancer is...
...flexible.
it was pretty hot and sticky. Okay, really sticky. Above, top, Darrell engineered an improv cooling system for his Optune. Super effective!

Double Date Friday
Brain cancer is...
...enjoying dinner out with the kids.
We wound down after the week at the Cheesecake Factory (thanks Team D!). It was nice to catch up on each person's highlights of the first weeks of the semester. Meanwhile, outside...the temperature raged.
Egret Research Update
Brenda jump started the Great Egret Research Project.1. She provided visual evidence of egrets who play nicely with each other and with the wood storks:
2. She confirmed why, although egrets are herons, they have their own egret name:
Her book tells us: "They are herons but were given their name because of their breeding plumes called aigrettes (once used to decorate hats, which caused them to almost disappear - saved by Teddy Roosevelt). "
3. She shed some light on the foot color question:
"My egret is a great egret (black feet and yellow bill). Yours is a snowy egret, which is smaller (yellow feet, black bill)."
Wikipedia says there are 10 species of egrets (click here). I'll check out their feet later.
Thanks for getting us going, Brenda!
Happy Friday, Team D!
