Building up to Building up Stamina

Readers Note:  Andi's the main blogger today.  Darrell's tired.  Ha ha.

Brain cancer is...

...building up to building up stamina.

Stamina is defined as, "the ability to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort."
Upping the challenge, yesterday's topic, involves upping the stamina.

Are you noticing, along with us, how much stamina is required for so many things in life?

Examples:
  • Covid!  Who knew that we'd need so much stamina--physical, mental, and emotional endurance--to beat this pandemic?
  • Babies.  The first recent time we spent the day with Nova, we woke up with a baby hangover.  It took us three visits to build up busy-infant stamina.
  • Walking.  Even though we walk consistently, we don't always keep up high mileage.  Thursday we were cranky and Darrell's feet hurt by mile five.
  • Working.  Spring is our travel season, which we missed this year.  Now (summer) is time for Andi to build up to several hours of computer work at a time.  The whole fall semester will be online, and I need to modify my face-to-face classes to make it possible to deliver them online.
What a difference one year makes. This year everyone understands the pain of that online teaching/learning preparation.
Our to-do list for the day had many stamina building activities such as:
  • Walk six miles
  • Andi work for three hours
Uncharacteristically, Darrell started his day by saying, "There is nothing on our list to look forward to."  Those are pretty sad words!

Therefore, we ended the walk (above) at five miles and had an Islands lunch instead.  Also we delayed my computer work until tomorrow.

Sometimes we need to build up to building up stamina.

Here's hoping you have enough stamina for your Saturday, Team D!

Novel Bird Sighting

For the first time ever we saw a turkey vulture at the park.  A fellow bird watcher told us what the vulture was having for lunch.  We'll share with interested parties. Just ask.
