Brain cancer is...
..back on the PCT, one last time.
Somehow it got to be Saturday again today. So soon!
We are out of midweek training days for this trip, so we headed back to the solitude of the PCT, one last time.
We started at a point where SH 18 intersected our path north near Baldwin Lake from our November hike (here). Basically we picked up our November route halfway through and added some unfamiliar miles at the end.
The trail always yields surprises. Here are some from today.
- Even though it was connected to the November chunk of the trail, there was not a single yucca plant. Instead we saw huge junipers.
- There were lots of long snowfields.
- We crossed several impressive rock fields.
- Because the trail turned, We caught different views from the peaks, including desert, forest, and snow.
- Finally, we crossed a muddy road that leads to the top of Gold Mountain. You can hike it or take your jeep. If it's usually this muddy, we'll stick to the PCT. See the stone trail marker on the far side? Don't miss it.
Happy trails to you, PCT, until we meet again.
We hope your Saturday held some nice surprises too!
