Double Date Friday

Brain cancer is...

...enjoying dinner out with the kids.

We wound down after the week at the Cheesecake Factory (thanks Team D!).  It was nice to catch up on each person's highlights of the first weeks of the semester.  Meanwhile, outside...

the temperature raged.

Egret Research Update

Brenda jump started the Great Egret Research Project.

1.  She provided visual evidence of egrets who play nicely with each other and with the wood storks:

2.  She confirmed why, although egrets are herons, they have their own egret name:

Her book tells us:  "They are herons but were given their name because of their breeding plumes called aigrettes (once used to decorate hats, which caused them to almost disappear - saved by Teddy Roosevelt). "

More on this later.

3.   She shed some light on the foot color question:

"My egret is a great egret (black feet and yellow bill). Yours is a snowy egret, which is smaller (yellow feet, black bill)."

Wikipedia says there are 10 species of egrets (click here). I'll check out their feet later.

Thanks for getting us going, Brenda!

Happy Friday, Team D!
