Birthday Month Goal Challenge Level? High!

Brain cancer is...

...moving fast.

You may recall that we like to set physical goals for birthday month.  Sometimes the goals are attainable, and sometimes they are ludicrous, as was the case when Darrell planned to crawl 0.57 miles for his 57th birthday (here).

This year our birthday month goal is to end the month fitter than we began it, measured in several ways.  A major component to this goal is that we aim to beat our daily and monthly steps, as measured both as an average for the year and for a high-mileage month.  Sounds reasonable, right?

Wrong!  We need to hit four miles each day.  It shouldn't be difficult, given the fact that our daily goal is five miles (11,000 steps), but it is proving to be harder than we predicted.  If we take even a single day off, we need to walk six miles or some stupid distance for a couple subsequent days.

In the video (above), you see Darrell moving fast, outrunning the sun in our quest to hit our mileage in the mid morning heat.  Challenge level?  High!

Also increasing the challenge level?  Birthday swag.

We have free birthday treats at a bunch of places.  Eating delicious desserts competes with a number of aspects related to our birthday month fitness goal.  (This treat was at Lazy Dog today.)

Free desserts all month?  It's hard to be us.

Good thing we love a good challenge.
