Forever Saying Good Bye

Brain cancer is...

...pretty quiet.

Zach, Summer, and Mousse are in Carpinteria with Sue. Alex, Tiana, and Beowulf just packed up and left for their home.  They need to work this week.  Tonight our house has only two humans and no dogs.

We are struck by the notion that, when one accepts the role of parenthood, one accepts the role of forever saying goodbye.

Last night we had a belated Mother's Day celebration at the Summit House.

Look straight ahead.

I remember this boy.
Today we hugged Alex and Tiana and said goodbye.

I remember, 29 years ago, Alex choosing to turn over in his crib.  And then he pulled out of the driveway at 16.  Now he and his wife are heading out of our house forever.

Thumbs up, kids.
