In Other Words [of the Year]...

 Brain cancer is...

...really glad to find diet Dew!

Look what we found at Ralph's today!  I asked Darrell about his facial expression, and he said it's caution.  He's looking around to ensure no one will take the boxes away from him.

Actually, he was only excited about the Dew for about five minutes (until we got it home safely, maybe), and then we moved on to the topic of the day:  Words of the Year.

Lots of people choose a word of the year.  Many look back to determine the most important word of the year in retrospect.  Germany has been doing that since 1971 it appears

A quick search of English language sources reveals words of the year for 2020 to include Covid (American Dialect Society), lockdown (Collins), and pandemic (Merriam Webster).  Icky.

We like the proactive approach better, where the choosers create a path (and maybe a world?) by choosing a word for the upcoming year.

2021 Words of the Year
You already know our word for 2021:  Courage (of the everyday variety).  Even though we're aiming for just ordinary courage, it's a pretty heavy word, we admit.

That makes it especially enjoyable for us to appreciate other people's words. It's fun to hear a set of words and play with them.  For instance, we try them together and in different orders.

Here are the words of Team D. members who have shared with us.  (If we missed yours, give!)

LuAnn's 2021 Word of the Year

Roene's 2021 Word of the Year

Kristine's 2021 Word of the Year

All these words strike us as little less work than our word, and mostly they make us feel optimistic.  They certainly engender great conversation.

Kristine's word, for example, was already worth about 30 minutes of conversation in book club.  Kristine says she's happy to share her word with you if you find it at all helpful.  Go ahead, try it out.

Here's to days with good words, Friends!

Today's Blooms

We leave tomorrow for Fawnskin.  Our yard gave us a big send off, perhaps knowing that we're heading to the frozen heights.  Huh.
