Summer!!

Brain cancer is...

...appreciating holidays that commemorate passing days.

Today Summer Rae turned 24. We celebrated in the morning with them before they (apparently enchanted by our recent mountain pics) headed up to Big Bear to celebrate some more.

Over breakfast the four of us had a gratifying conversation about how many important things Summer accomplished in her 23rd year and about how many ways she contributed to great things in other people's lives.  Once again we had a chance to recognize the importance of not saying, when we hit another birthday, "Ugh, another year older!" but "Wow! How amazing that I had this year on Earth! Look how great it was!"

Thanks, Birthday Summer, for the opportunity to again consider the awesomeness of the cumulative gift of days that each birthday offers us.
