Choose Laughter.

Brain cancer is...

 ...still finding humor.

A huge lesson (Lesson #2) that Darrell taught me as he faces GBM is that it's often possible to choose one's reaction to life.  Darrell was still in the hospital after surgery when he had people laughing.  Here are three early posts that show his choice, laughter.
  •  March 2016:  Darrell startles people in the radiation waiting room and then channels Two Face.
  • April 2016:  Darrell invents ersatz Optune with foil and jumper cables.
  • August 2016:  Darrell battles brain Pokemon.  It just doesn't get better!
Laughing through brain cancer treatment has trained us to look for humor in...pretty much anything.

Darrell's still finding humor.  When I started the vacuum this morning, he ran in from the other room, dazed by the unfamiliar sound of someone vacuuming.  Very dramatic.  Above he was surprised to explore the uncharted territory behind the couch.  Either I should get out the vacuum cleaner more...or less.

He's not the only one laughing these days.  Team D is diligently looking for reasons to laugh during these mostly serious days.  Many of you have mentioned the COVID memes that are lightening your days. And this morning Christine sent us the bad news that Governor Newsom halted all alcohol sales in California.

(April Fools!) Of course Darrell had to pass that gem along to his family. Perhaps Linda's response spoke for all of us:

"Darrell, thank you for all the laughter through the years!"

Finding humor; choosing laughter...we plan to continue.

We have no idea what this tree is, but the blossoms smelled great!
