Wahoo, Wyoming!

Brain cancer is...

...enjoying "the equality state."

We had a pleasant morning with Zach and Summer before hitting the road again.
For new sights, we took the northern route, through southern Wyoming.  Tonight we're staying in Green River, Wyoming.  Yes, it's the same Green River as in Green River, Utah, in our trip out.  Now we're near its headwaters.  Green River is a major tributary of the Colorado.

Speaking of rivers:  Our drive today took us over the Continental Divide, the point at which waters drain to different basins (here, the Pacific or the Atlantic).  We learned that every continent except Antarctica has a continental divide, and some have more than one.

We also think we discovered where the whole nation got its fireworks for this year's Independence Day's weeklong bootlegged fireworks displays. Kidding.  But we did see more fireworks stands--open year round!--than people today.

One last fun fact:  Did you know that Wyoming is the Equality State? The first woman in what is now the United States voted in Wyoming...50 years before women in the nation could vote.  When Wyoming was offered statehood, it was on the condition that it repeal women's right to vote.  The territory of Wyoming said no.  It would rather remain a territory for 100 years than join the nation without its women. (We learned this on a Wyoming map we picked up, but sites like this and this one verified and expanded the information.)

Darrell and I hiked some and then dinner was hosted by Sue at a local Mexican restaurant.  Tomorrow it's more of Wyoming and then northern Utah.  Here are a few pics of the lovely locale of  Wyoming.

Darrell is in this pic somewhere.  Find him?

We hope your week is off to a great start, friends!
