"Little Towels"

 Brain cancer is...

...the master of work-arounds.

Staying in a hotel during COVID means giving more thought to issues such as:

  • Obtaining food:  The hotel restaurants, including room service, are closed.  Somehow we manage.
  • Disposing of trash: No daily cleaning service means we've located a couple of hotel trash bins.
  • Getting clean towels:  Pick up the phone and dial 0?  If only it were that easy! Cue today's story.

Today I was on a conference call in my office.  Here's the view from my office, by the way:

Darrell used the time to forage for towels.  We particularly needed washcloths.  He approached the woman with the housecleaning cart and asked for washcloths.  He was wearing a mask, which makes communication harder for all (right?).

When the third house cleaner got involved, Darrell switched his communication strategy to a work around:  Using other words that mean the same thing.  "Little towels.  Little towels," he exclaimed.  "Ah! Washcloths!" was the response.  You see Darrell's bounty in the top photo.

When I told him that his choice of set ups for the photo was risky, Darrell replied, "It's okay.  I know how to get more."  Darrell Guillaume, the master of the work around.

On a different note, today the birthday beach trip became more about the place than the people.

We wish you great people and great places, in whatever combination you desire.
